45th Lake Burley Griffin Race Walking Carnival, 12 June 2011, Canberra

The annual Lake Burley Griffin Carnival is held each June in Canberra, the capital of Australia. This is the main event for Racewalking Australia and has a strong team emphasis.  There are Racewalking Australia championship events for age groups from Under 10 through to Masters.

This year saw ovcr 300 walkers compete over a variety of distances from 1km right through to 20 Miles, with many of the entrants racing in second, or in some cases even third events. After a milder morning than usual, we were treated to a sunny day with a temperature approaching 15 degrees, exceptional for Canberra in mid winter. The full results follows
