The LBG Carnival was first held in 1967. Although the main event was a 20 Mile for men, other events were included over time and amongst them was a 6 Mile for Junior Men. This continued until 1977. From 1978, the 10km distance was contested and this is still the case now. From 1990 until 2007, the 10km event doubled as the Australian 10km Under 20 championship but this event has not moved to the Australian Roadwalking championships which are held each August.
